From Plan to Production: Adino’s China Facility Celebrates Grand Opening

Adino and Listen Adhesives have marked a major milestone in their joint venture with the official grand opening of their new state-of-the-art production facility in Shandong province, China. The event, held on May 16, 2025, follows the announcement of the partnership in late 2023 and represents the successful realization of a strategic manufacturing collaboration between the two companies.

The celebration welcomed guests from across Asia and Germany to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour the completed factory. The 30,000 m² facility has moved from planning to active production, with PUR-based adhesives already rolling off the lines. The facility is designed to achieve a total capacity of 120,000 tonnes of adhesives in its final stage, with the first stage set to produce 17,000 tonnes of PU hotmelt and 40,000 tonnes of thermoplastic hotmelt.

The total investment in the building, machinery, laboratory, and technical center amounts to approximately $20 million. “Our philosophy has always been to deliver customer-specific adhesive solutions,” said Dieter Steinert, founder and CEO of Adino Group. “We’ve always believed in transferring know-how and building local partnerships—producing adhesives where our customers are, using existing capacities and local expertise.”

The joint venture, named Shandong Adino New Materials Co., Ltd., builds upon a long-standing relationship between Adino and Listen, rooted in more than 20 years of personal connection between the companies’ founders, Dieter Steinert and Mr. Wang, founder of Listen Adhesives. Their formal cooperation began in 2018 in Foshan with the production of EVA hotmelts, laying the foundation for the newly launched manufacturing site in Shandong.

During his welcoming speech, the mayor of Tancheng expressed appreciation for the establishment of such a high-performance plant in the region, highlighting its role in providing new jobs and fostering cooperation with local universities. He also noted that this facility represents the first German/European investment in the area, which is a significant milestone for local economic development.

Listen’s strong market presence in edge-banding hotmelt, coupled with long-term relationships with key raw material suppliers, enhances the partnership’s ability to meet the growing demand for high-performance adhesives in the furniture, mattress, and textile industries. “China offers two key advantages,” Steinert added. “All necessary raw materials are available locally, and the speed of setting up operations is unmatched.”

The factory’s operations adhere to European standards implemented from Adino Germany, ensuring high-quality production processes. Importantly, the facility operates without the use of solvents, minimizing any negative impact on the environment. “PUR-based adhesives are a key growth area—not just in furniture, but also in textiles and footwear as industries transition away from solvent-based systems,” Steinert explained. “Our vision is for Adino to become a globally recognized adhesive supplier, with a focus on the furniture, mattress, and textile industries—and this new factory is a milestone on that journey.”

As the plant ramps up operations, the partnership between Adino and Listen positions both companies to meet rising regional and global demand while continuing to invest in localization, speed, and innovation.
